Surgical Uncovering and Healing Abutment

After the implant is placed, it will require some undisturbed healing time to integrate into the bone.  Usually after 3-6 months, we can uncover the top of the implant and place a healing abutment, a small attachment that allows the gum tissue to heal in preparation for placing the final crown restoration.  Sometimes, we are able to place this healing abutment at the time of surgery and that would eliminate this separate procedure.
