Walking into a new dental practice for the first time takes courage — especially if it has been a while. From the moment you arrive, our entire team is focused on one thing: making sure you feel welcome, informed, and completely at ease.
Here is exactly what to expect.
Before You Arrive
A few things that are good to know ahead of your first appointment:
- We are conveniently located at two Kamloops locations — Valleyview and Downtown — both with complimentary parking
- We accept most insurance providers and will walk you through your coverage before treatment begins
- We offer online scheduling — book at a time that works for you
- Same-day and same-week appointments are available if you need to be seen sooner
- If you have any anxiety about your visit, let us know when you book — we have sedation options at every level and our entire team is trained to help you feel at ease
When You Arrive
You will be greeted warmly at reception and introduced to one of our dental assistants, who will give you a full tour of our practice. Both our Valleyview and Downtown offices have been designed to feel calm and welcoming — flat screen TVs, blankets, music, and a team whose demeanor matches the space.
There are no surprises here. Just a genuinely comfortable place to begin.
Your Examination
Your assistant will start by gathering everything we need to build a complete picture of your oral health:
- Comprehensive photographs of your teeth and smile
- Digital X-rays for a detailed view of your teeth, gums, and jawbone
- An oral cancer screening as part of every new patient exam
We use Pearl AI to clearly identify areas of concern and connect findings to recommended treatments — so you can see exactly what we see, and understand why we recommend what we do. For patients considering implants, 3D CBCT imaging is available to support precise, safe planning.
Meeting Your Doctor
One of our doctors will then complete a thorough in-person examination, reviewing your images and radiographs with you directly. This is a conversation, not a presentation. We want to understand your goals, your history, and any concerns you have been carrying — and we take the time to actually listen.
Our doctors are calm, unhurried, and genuinely committed to making sure you feel informed at every step.
Your Treatment Consultation
After your examination, your assistant will sit down with you to review everything discussed, outline any recommended next steps, and answer every question you have. If treatment is recommended, your options will be presented to you clearly and in writing — so you can make the decision that makes sense for you today and in the future.
There is no pressure, and there is no rush.
Sedation Options
If dental anxiety has kept you from getting the care you need, we want you to know: you have options here. All five of our doctors are sedation certified, and we offer:
- Laughing gas — mild and immediate, wears off quickly
- Oral sedation — a prescribed medication taken before your appointment for deeper relaxation
- IV sedation — our deepest level of comfort, allowing your entire treatment to be completed in a single, deeply relaxed appointment
