Your Family's Dental Home in Kamloops

Sedation Available for Every Service

Comfort is not reserved for cosmetic or surgical procedures at Smile Dentistry. Sedation is available for all of the dentistry services we offer — including cleanings, general dentistry, cosmetic and implant procedures. All five of our doctors are sedation certified, so if you would feel more at ease with a little help relaxing, that option is always available to you. Just let us know when you book.

Care for the Whole Family

We want children to develop a positive, lifelong relationship with their dentist. We create a welcoming, comfortable experience for younger patients so they feel at ease from their very first visit — and so you know their changing dental needs are being addressed by a team that genuinely cares. From  toddlers to teens and adults, your whole family is in good hands here.

Come In for a Cleaning, Leave With a Brighter Smile

Your regular cleaning appointment is also an opportunity to enhance your smile. Custom teeth whitening is available alongside your hygiene visit — so you can come in for a cleaning and leave with noticeably whiter teeth. A simple, efficient way to invest in your smile without a separate appointment.

The Link Between Oral Health and Overall Health

Your mouth is not separate from the rest of your body. Research consistently shows a connection between oral health and systemic conditions including heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory illness. Chronic gum disease, untreated decay, and tooth loss can have effects that extend well beyond your smile.

Routine dental care is one of the most effective and accessible investments you can make in your overall health — not just your teeth. Our doctors take a comprehensive approach to every examination, looking at the full picture of your oral health and flagging anything that deserves attention before it becomes a larger concern.

What General Dentistry Covers

General dentistry is the foundation of a healthy smile. Staying on top of routine care protects your teeth, your gums, and your long-term oral health — and allows our doctors to catch concerns early, before they become complex or costly to treat.

At Smile Dentistry, general dentistry includes:

  • Comprehensive examinations and digital X-rays
  • Professional cleanings and scaling
  • Composite fillings
  • Crowns and bridges
  • Inlays and onlays
  • Dentures and denture maintenance
  • Root canal treatment
  • Sealants and fluoride treatments
  • Night guards and TMJ oral appliances
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Children's dentistry: fillings, crowns, sealants, fluoride, and emergency care

Same-day and same-week appointments are available for patients who need to be seen promptly.

What to Expect During Your First Visit

Step 1

Your Arrival

You will be greeted warmly and, if you are a new patient, given a tour of the practice. Both our Valleyview and Downtown locations have been designed to feel calm and welcoming — a deliberate departure from the typical dental experience.

Step 2

X-rays and Photographs

Your appointment begins with digital X-rays and photographs to give us a complete picture of your teeth, gums, and bone health. For new patients, this forms the foundation of your ongoing care record. For returning patients, it allows us to track changes over time and catch anything new.

Step 3

Your Examination

Your doctor will complete a comprehensive examination, reviewing your X-rays and photographs alongside a thorough clinical assessment. This includes an oral cancer screening at every visit. Any areas of concern are explained clearly, using your images to show you exactly what is being discussed.

Step 4

Your Treatment Consultation

If any treatment is recommended, your doctor will walk you through your options in plain language. All recommendations are presented to you in writing, with costs outlined clearly before any decisions are made. There is no pressure and no rush — your plan is built around your goals and your timeline.

Step 5

Scheduling Your Next Visit

Before you leave, we will help you schedule your next cleaning and any follow-up care. Staying consistent with your regular appointments is the single most effective thing you can do for your long-term oral health — and we make it as easy as possible to keep that commitment.

What Our Patients Are Saying

Dr. Zlatnik was very patient and walked me through the procedure in a very supportive manner. I required 3 implants. Now I must remind myself I have them. They are so comfortable it's like they are my own teeth.

It wasn't hard for Dr. Zlatnik to convince me to have implant surgery. I have come to trust him implicitly as my dentist. Both he and his assistants were professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Every step of the procedure was fully explained and the actual implant surgery was a breeze — in and out of the chair without feeling a thing.

You Are Always Welcome Here

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have not been to a dentist in a long time?

You are welcome here, no matter how long it has been. Our team meets every patient with warmth and zero judgment. We will assess where things stand, explain your options clearly, and build a plan that works for you at whatever pace you are comfortable with.

Do you accept insurance for general dentistry?

Yes. We work with all insurance providers and walk you through your coverage before treatment begins. All costs are presented in writing so there are no surprises.

Can I get my teeth whitened at the same time as my cleaning?

Yes. Professional whitening is available alongside your hygiene appointment. Come in for a cleaning and leave with a noticeably brighter smile — no separate visit required.

What general dentistry services do you offer?

We offer a comprehensive range including examinations, digital X-rays, professional cleanings, composite fillings, crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays, dentures, root canal treatment, sealants, fluoride, night guards, TMJ oral appliances, oral cancer screening, and children's dentistry.

Do you offer same-day appointments for general dentistry?

Yes. We maintain same-day and same-week availability across both our Valleyview and Downtown locations. If you need to be seen promptly, call us and we will do our best to accommodate you.

What age should my child first see a dentist?

The general recommendation is that a child's first dental visit should occur by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth appearing. Early visits establish a positive relationship with dental care and allow us to monitor development from the start.

Do you see children for general dentistry?

Yes. We provide comprehensive children's dentistry from infancy through the teen years, including fillings, crowns, sealants, fluoride treatments, and emergency care. We are committed to creating a positive experience for younger patients from their very first visit.

Do you offer sedation for cleanings and routine visits?

Yes. Sedation is available for all services we offer, including routine hygiene appointments. If you experience anxiety about dental visits of any kind, sedation is an option — just let us know when you book.

How often should I come in for a checkup and cleaning?

For most patients, every six months is recommended. However, some patients benefit from more frequent visits depending on their oral health, gum condition, or medical history. Your doctor will recommend the right interval for your specific needs.

What Our Patients Are Saying

The experience speaks for itself. Here's what Kamloops patients have to say.
Anna S.
I had a very thorough and professional teeth cleaning. I like that they ask me questions about my health and any changes in my mouth, teeth and gums, followed up with x-rays and an overview with the dentist. Painless and great care given. I also just had my first sedation experience to help with my root canal, and I felt totally looked after. I was a little apprehensive about sedation, but my husband had it many times and said I would love it, and boy I sure did. Try it, you'll like it!
Jamie P.
I recently had a check-up and cleaning and it went very well. Everything is very clean and very modern. They found an old crown that had started to crack and got me in the same day to fix it. Pricing is a little higher than most, but for the service received I think it is fair. Great dentist and hygienists.
Kyle J.
Fantastic dentist. From cleanings, to fillings and wisdom tooth removal, I can honestly say each experience has been friendly and expertly dealt with. It always feels like a breeze - which I never thought I would say about a visit to the dentist! Thanks to the Smile team! :)
Joanna C.
I've recently had some fillings, a cleaning, and my wisdom teeth extracted. I'm normally extremely nervous about having work done, but due to great staff and the option of sedation I had a very pleasant experience! Everything from booking appointments, to my new patient exam, to discussing the costs of treatment was very professional, quick and comfortable. Thanks for such a great experience! I highly recommend.
Casey C.
Went in for sedation dentistry to have my childhood silver fillings replaced with white ones and it was an excellent experience. Zero discomfort, completed everything in one visit, and I remember nothing. The dentist and staff are all super friendly and professional. Highly recommended!
Aron W.
Pleasant people, very professional, and the optional sedation allowed me to get multiple visits worth of dental work completed in one go. Best dental visit I don't remember ever having had! I've seen some people complain about price, but the cost of one crown done here was significantly less than my last crown at my previous dentist in a different town. I will be coming back here for all my dental needs as long as I live in the region.
Dave V.
I had three old amalgam fillings replaced with white composite fillings and one crown. The entire procedure, including the crown, took less than two hours. Everything was explained to me very well and I could tell that the dentist and staff are true professionals! It's been two months since my visit and I have had no issues with any of the work done. Highly recommend!
Corinne L.
Just returned home from the most positive experience ever at a dentist. Three of my front teeth had to be filled due to chips and wear and I am a very nervous patient. Couldn't be happier with the result and experience. The dental assistant was amazing and made me feel so at ease, and the dentist was so knowledgeable, professional and made me feel very relaxed. I can't believe I am saying it but I actually had fun at my appointment! Highly recommend!
